Universityhood: A campaign of MSC

           For almost 59 years of being founded Marinduque State College became the home of a well rounded, multi—skilled, and competitive students in different fields along the region. MSC named Marinduque School of Arts and trade (MSAT) before began in 1953, when late President Elpidio Quirino signed into law R.A. no. 805 authorized by the Congressman Panfilo F. Manguera.
           It was then a simple start with inspiring vision and one headed mission for the people of Marinduque. This is to uplift the level of Marinduquenos and enhance their skills to show in the world their inborn quality of making something as a work of art.
           Way back then continuous change and development took in the college, from the two—year courses education MSAT was authorized to offer four—year courses on 1975—1976 under DECS order No. 285. 1975 .

           The college became a strong foundation of a newly molded graduate from different courses. Even a beginner, the school seems never been treated as an amateur on creating a competitive graduates from other elite universities outside the province. Infact, MSC graduates were scattering well provided in different countries and each creating their names on their field of works.
            On April 8, 1983 with Batas Pambansa Blg. 377 MSAT was converted into Marinduque Institute of Science and technology (MSIT). This provides further opportunities to offer BS in Civil Engineering in Boac Campus and Establish Torijos Branch offering BS in Fisheries, Trade Technical Education and Secondary Education. While under the Board Resolution No. Bs. 1987 the College was authorized to open the Graduate studies Program in summer 1988. Later, MSIT was change the Marinduque State College (MSC) together with Torijos, Sta. Cruz and Gasan Branch under R.A. No.7319.  This was made possible through the help of congress woman Carmencita O. Reyes.

                                                                                          The MSC has traveled that for long a way for the productive developments and programs for the province and for the people of Marinduque. Many changes had undertaken way back then and until now. A simple dream before had come to much bigger vision of attaining university –hood of the college.
             “We all need one another” Dr. Diosdado P. ulueta VP for Research and Extension said in an interview. Now at this moment of time were our most awaited vision is near to come that is what we really need – to be united. 150, 000 signature from the iniative of the people is good enough to strengthen and support university –hood campaign. This is a proof we are really one for the future Marinduque State “University”.
              Let us be the first alumnus of this would be University and our children and grandchildren be the heir of it.
